Why static QR codes do not expire

A static QR code is a visual encoding of information, such as a website URL or a Wi-Fi network description. The squares contain the information itself. A compatible scanner can recover it from a printed page or a downloaded image without asking the QR generator for permission.

What we never do

QR Cove does not route your scan through a QR Cove tracking service. We do not deactivate QR codes because of an expired trial, a missing subscription, or a scan limit. There is no account database storing your codes. You can keep the exported PNG, SVG or PDF file after leaving the site.

Can my code ever stop working?

The QR pattern itself has no built-in expiration date. However, a destination website can move, close, or change. A Wi-Fi password may be updated. A payment provider can deactivate a wallet or virtual payment address. A printed code can become damaged or too small to read. These are limitations of destinations and scanning conditions, not an expiration timer inside the QR image.

What about dynamic QR codes?

A dynamic QR typically encodes a managed redirect URL. The service may allow editing the destination or collecting scan counts, but the redirection service must remain available. QR Cove deliberately offers only static codes and does not provide scan tracking or editable destinations.

How private is this?

The content you enter is converted into a QR matrix by code running in your browser. QR Cove does not upload these contents or generated images to an application server. Your hosting provider still receives standard website requests and any future advertising provider may process site data according to the published privacy policy. The information inside a QR code can be read by anyone with access to the code, so do not print confidential details in public places.

Before you print

Test the exact downloaded design on more than one phone. Use dark modules on a light background, preserve an empty margin around the code, avoid oversized logos, and choose a sufficiently large physical print size. Our print size estimator offers a rule-of-thumb starting point.
